The Pele Awards is the biggest awards show in Hawaii for companies and organizations engaging in design, advertising, and mass media. The awards ceremony was held at the Royal Hawaiian hotel on April 21st.

To celebrate its 100th anniversary, the Japan Travel Bureau (JTB) introduced its new road vehicle called “The Whale – ‘Oli‘Oli Walker” which replaces the former JTB ‘Oli‘Oli trolley. The whale started running its wheels through the Waikiki – Ala Moana route on April 2nd.

Design Lab 2012 happened this past weekend (March 24-25, 2012) at Mililani High School. The 2-day workshop is put on by the AIGA to help inspire young artists and designers from high schools around the island. The turnout was AWESOME this year with about 20-25 students. “Say Hi!” is an interactive photo station, where you can transform yourself into “Hawaiian style mode”, snap a picture, and then send that picture via email. The photo station opened at Don Quijote – Honolulu Kaheka store on March 17th.

Saturday, January 28th is the Grand Opening of the largest community center in Hawaii. The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, located in Kapolei.
